Uber has done the same thing. One time I was picked up around 2:30am after leaving a gay bar. As we’re driving he asked if I wanted to sit up front and I said no thanks, it’s fine in the back. Not too long after he asked what my sexuality was, which not only weirded me out, but I also don’t know how this guy will react. So I joke and say “well you did just pick me up in front of Woody’s”, the name of the gay bar. He laughs and says that he’s bi. Shortly after he reached back to put his hand on my leg and asks if I’m sure about not wanting to sit up front. At this point I said pull over and let me out and I ended up walking home and sent Uber support a message detailing what just happened.
All they did was refund my $6-$7 dollar ride and say that they’d make sure he wouldn’t be my driver again. When I asked about what action is being taken against that driver because he’s picking up people late at night hoping they’re intoxicated enough to make advances on them, they said they couldn’t release that info and then deleted that ride from my app’s history, which had my review, rating, and the drivers name, car model, and plate.
turns out regulating taxis is a good thing
All due respect but I’ve been harassed in ‘regulated taxis’ and nobody did jack shit there either.
it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
